What is a typical class at Intensity Works like?
Classes last exactly thirty minutes. In that time, we will do 5 minutes of warm up and joint mobility, followed by twenty minutes of functional interval exercises and we’ll finish with 5 minutes of cool down and stretching. Since every minute of class time is carefully planned, there is no time to waste. Please be on time and ready to exercise at the class start time.
What exercises will I do?
In a typical class, we will do a variety of calisthenic exercises, bodyweight exercises like squats and push-ups (with modifications as needed) and other fat burning exercises such as kettlebell swings, jump rope, sandbag exercises, etc. Classes offer great variety but always focus on the best and most efficient exercises.
Is it like a class at the Y or another gym?
No, our classes are much different from other fitness classes available. Our class size is limited to 10, so each woman receives individual attention. Sarah programs each class to deliver the greatest results in the least amount of time. A variety of different formats is used for our workouts, but in every one, participants perform exercises in short intervals, followed by short rests. The exercises are simple, but when performed in this manner, they encourage more fat burning and increased fitness. Your muscles will be continually challenged in new ways. You’ll find that classes are fast and fun and very effective.
What should I bring?
Staying hydrated during exercise (and at all times) is vital for health and fitness. Please bring a bottle of water with you to every class. Also, please bring a beach or bath towel with you to each class.
Will I lose weight?
Losing weight and losing fat are two different things. Losing fat is what most people mean when they think of fitting into smaller clothing and having a tighter, more toned appearance. Losing weight isn’t a good thing when it is accomplished through strict dieting and/or excessive cardiovascular exercise which could lead to muscle loss. A better way to gauge your progress is through taking before and after pictures, taking measurements of your body and noticing how your clothes fit. When combined with healthy eating, our workouts will definitely help you lose fat and supercharge your metabolism at the same time. You will also gain functional strength and notice that you have much more energy.
When will I see results?
Attending classes three times per week will produce fast results, and incorporating a healthy eating program is vital to fat loss as well. With both of these practices in place, results should be evident within just a few weeks.
