Results without the Drill Sergeant! You will work hard, but you’ll never be left behind or feel out of place here. Exercises are adapted for all fitness levels. Preliminary training is provided in Kettlebell Basics and any other exercises with which you may be unfamiliar. There is no running as a group. Our environment is upbeat, encouraging and supportive. There is no whistle blowing and no screaming. The classes are small and mirrors don’t cover our walls. Our purpose is to help you reach your fitness goals and discover the confidence that fitness brings.
Our workouts target every major muscle group in as little time as possible. Because the exercises involve compound movements utilizing multiple joints at once, they are super efficient. Workouts last just 30 minutes including warm up and cool down.
Intensity Works’ Boot Camps use only functional exercises, or exercises which train the body to better perform the types of movements used in everyday life. Some of these functional exercises are bodyweight exercises like squats and push-ups. In addition, we use a variety of functional training tools such as heavy ropes, sandbags, and kettlebells in our classes. These tools increase the effectiveness of our workouts, providing maximum results in as little time as possible.
A kettlebell is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. Kettlebells have been used for centuries in Russia to develop extraordinary strength, flexibility and endurance among the Russian Special Forces, athletes and others who train with them. These amazing tools were introduced to the United States in the 1990s and were quickly adopted by elite US military and law enforcement personnel for the incredible results they deliver. More recently, kettlebells have become a popular training tool for top athletes as well as martial artists and anyone looking to reach peak physical condition. Within our boot camp environment, kettlebells provide an exceptional method for fat burning, functional strength building and all around fitness.
Training with kettlebells is challenging but not difficult. However, each boot camp participant receives individual or small group instruction in kettlebell basics prior to attending her first boot camp class. Intensity Works proudly offers certified kettlebell instruction in the Russian “Hardstyle”.
Your training sessions with Intensity Works will deliver great results because you will be working hard. However, rest is a vital component to any training program as demanding as ours, so we encourage our clients to rest appropriately. This includes getting at least eight hours of sleep per night, and taking at least one full day off from exercise per week.
In addition, we highly recommend periodic “rest weeks”. Between our Boot Camp sessions at Intensity Works, participants will have the opportunity to take needed rest. We will provide suggestions for “at-home” workouts if desired, but we recommend using most or all of the rest weeks to fully recover from the training you have been doing with us. You will not lose ground, but instead will return refreshed and re-engergized, ready to train hard once again.
